introductory remarks

over the last six months but increasingly over the summer gangs of nazis have been forming in scotland, as the brownshirts, to harass, intimidate and assault anyone they deem nonconformist to white heteronormativity, focusing their activity around certain diverse communities. the fascist rally was organised by ‘unite the clans’ and supported by tommy robinson amongst other influential figures of the british far-right. saturday 24 july was a culmination of pre-existing tensions that have been simmering for some time.

the anti-fascist response was organised in consultation with police scotland by ‘stand up to racism’, a proxy group of the socialist workers’ party (swp), an organisation whose entire central committee is compromised by sheltering & promoting sexual abusers, among other fundamental problems. whilst they fronted the advertising campaign for the rally on social media, ‘unite the union’ and ‘unison’, the two largest general trade unions in the uk, were also listed as organisers. their representatives wore high-visibility ‘security’ jackets during the protest and acted like marshals who liaised with the police & enforced crowd control etc.

these are the people who spoke of victory at the very moment anti-fascists were kettled and what exists of the ‘black bloc’ was trampled by cavalry police.

Bus shelters and windows broken, bins burned, barriers piled up, urban fittings dismantled, graffiti on walls, this was the Aurillac city centre spectacle last night after the violent incidents that took place for the first evening of the street theatre festival. According to the news in La Montagne, confirmed by ICI Pays d’Auvergne, it was the interpellation of a young man surprised while spraying on a wall, that set off the violence. A number of festival-goers leapt to his defence, very soon joined by others, some of whom were masked.

The clashes took place in the place du Square, the heart of Aurillac, right next to the narrow streets of the town centre. Police on one side (with a reinforcement of gendarmes), rioters on the other, tear gas grenades against projectiles, to the light of the small fires that had been lit all around, the clashes went on until 3 in the morning. In contrast to this trend, what we need is intransigence with everything that makes militarism what it is. This ambition implies a radical critique of hierarchy and political representation.

Having said that, we have to accept the leap into the unknown. Didier never considered the possibility of anti-Musk action. In fact, the man from Niort has little use for the billionaire. Unemployed when the fire broke out, he bought his Model 3 for 40,000 euros in 2023, hoping to resell it a year later. Ideally, a little more expensive. “The problem is that Elon Muska has decided to lower the price of new cars,” he laments. The other problem is that all that’s left of the car is the boot. And the 35,000 euros the insurance company was kind enough to pay him.

In October and November, two Tesla fires struck the Niort station parking lot. Remains of burnt aluminum still litter the ground. On November 28, a vehicle burst into flames on avenue Léo-Lagrange. On the same day as the fire, an intriguing publication appeared on the Internet. On the militant site Nantes Indymedia [or here; NdAtt.], an article signed by “anarchists” reported: “In order to shake up the daily lives of petit-bourgeois, or at least, individuals behaving as such, fifteen of their cars were set on fire in the Niort region.” These fires were not accidental, they insist, without claiming responsibility for them.

Libé tried to contact the author. One day, it received an anonymous e-mail: “Our exchanges will take place via encryption only.” Condition accepted. “I’m one of the activists behind these actions”, the Internet user introduces himself. As proof, he provides us with a list of the precise addresses of some of the traffic lights. And the license plates involved. We ask him about his motives. From the outset, he clarifies: “Elon Musk’s Nazi salute was not the trigger.” Even if the gesture did, he concedes, “strengthen the anti-capitalist and anti-fascist cause, by publicly establishing a clear link between capitalism and the rise of the far right, particularly Nazism”.

According to our interlocutor, the militants wanted to target “the bourgeoisie”. “Because it’s indecent and provocative that some people can afford to buy and parade around in the street in luxury vehicles […] while others are barely surviving”, he says indignantly. Why did he target Tesla cars in particular? Because it’s “a Big Brother on wheels, and in a society in which technology is taking on an ever-growing role to the detriment of freedoms and the environment, it’s more than necessary to take action”. The way they conduct their fight, he admits, is unlikely to be “heard by the owners of the burnt-out cars”. Nevertheless, he continues. In a final exchange, he is asked if he plans to take out the lighter again soon: “Direct action will continue as long as I live, in different forms and in different places.”

That night, with light hearts, we wandered around the city in search of a breath of fresh air, a nice encounter, an adventure like only the night knows how to welcome. And as it’s impossible to walk 500 meters in this sad city without coming across one of these industrial horrors at the service of the generalized massacre underway, the adventure quickly presented itself to us. Light-hearted, but never insensitive or resigned, we went looking for a few treasures of our own, which we scattered here and there, so that, with one great BANG, these industries of death would finally power off.

France’s aerospace industry, the largest in Europe (civil and military combined), is home to the majority of the management bodies and operational headquarters of European companies and programs, and covers the entire aerospace technology spectrum (including nuclear ballistics). On a national level, the most important cluster in this sector (educational institutes, research laboratories, production plants, etc.) is located in Toulouse.

We acted on three sites, two in the south and one in the north. We lifted some trap doors, and set fire to the cables they were hiding. In one of the enclosures, we attacked a high-voltage power line where the sheath went underground. No mention of these acts in the media, yet the flames were dancing high when we left the scene, leaving little doubt as to the success of our operation…

We acted on the eve of the annual aerospace and aeronautics show, one of the world’s most important in this field. We hoped to spoil their party. Let them know that the rebels haven’t had their last word! This city is infamous for the proliferation of its death industries, but it has also seen a resurgence of anti-militarist agitation in recent years: demonstrations and rallies, public screenings and discussions, tagging of recruitment offices, disruption of events, unfurling of banners and sticking of anti-war posters on 150 JC Decaux bicycles, towing against the SNU, blocking of high schools against the massacre in Gaza, actions against Thalès, Apside, Carrefour, Latécoère, sabotage of SNCF lines…

With our action, we tried to cut off the juice to part of this “industrial flagship” (aeronautics, armaments, technologies) owned by the French state.
We could just as easily have cut off the electricity to the former SNPE (Héraclès – Ariane) chemical site in the heart of the city, but for fear of recreating the AZF explosion – or reviving the memory of it – we decided against it. What can we say about a world that builds these ticking time bombs, just waiting for a spark to ignite a new industrial catastrophe? Is it in the name of progress, of the promise of a world free of disease, that we see the earth being poisoned a little more every day? What irony!

On the other hand, we didn’t particularly want to impact the residents of the neighboring districts. But the way things are organized leaves us little choice. Faced with their wars of conquest and colonization, of inter-state rivalry and control over the raw materials essential to the mutation of capitalism, we’ve chosen our side. Faced with their industrial wars against rivers and oceans, against mountains and ice caps, from the subsoil to the stars, we have chosen our side. Faced with their social wars against the exploited, against women, against the marginalized, against the deserters of gender and race, against the indigenous, we have chosen our side. Faced with their technological wars against what grows and what resists the machine, we have chosen our side. Against their wars: our side is that of solidarity, of struggle, of mutual aid, of the offensive and of rebellious love against all states, all industries, all massacres of the living… and of freedom.

Conflict is spreading, with Russia and NATO promising a third world war. So, faced with this unstable world, don’t we want to ask ourselves a few questions? How much longer can we afford to look the other way, or be content with a meagre humanitarian contribution? How do we intend to react if the conflict gets closer? If, as the state plans, military service is reinstated, and a whole category of people is sent off to war? That the factories and offices where you work are requisitioned and put at the service of this same war? Do we know where military supply convoys pass through? Do we know how to heal people? Do we want to rely on the state to guarantee our well-being, when it has proved time and again that this is not its primary concern? After all, if it doesn’t hesitate to expose us to industrial risks, why would it be more concerned about our well-being in the event of war?

There are still old-timers who remember the times when the word war was not a distant abstraction. People have always had to resist their rulers’ desire to go to war. We cannot escape this. They refused to be cannon fodder, we will refuse to be drone fodder. Far from wishing to sound alarmist, this is an invitation to reflect, to discuss, to refuse passivity. Talk to your neighbor, in line at the bakery, after the next war movie you see. Talk away from eavesdroppers (telephones are ears!). Ask yourself who you can count on, and how you can defend yourself against those who might do you harm. We may not be able to “change the world”, but we can still control our own lives.

We couldn’t end this communique without sending all the warmth of our incendiary night to the compas in Greece and elsewhere who are suffering the hard loss of Kyriakos, an anarchist who recently died in an apartment explosion, and the repression that follows. You are in our thoughts. Take heart.

Thanks to the indomitable of the zad against the A69, whose courage and determination reinforce our own. Louna was therefore placed in pre-trial detention solely on charges of property damage, private property that must visibly belong to a company working on the highway, which the state insists is the firm’s advocate. At the public hearing, she is described as an “active opponent of the A69”, on the sole basis that she was seen feeding squirrels (name given to the activists occupying the trees), to have been checked once near the zad and to have been present at a trial of militants. When the PD placement was appealed, in the facts brief the judge mentioned that Louna has no telephone number in her name and that besides her place of residence she has anchor points in several corners of France. This stigma is part of a context where for months the militants against the A69 are subjected to extremely brutal repression. As well as the excessive presence of cops, whose practices have been denounced by the Toulouse Observatory of Police Practises and by a reporter of the United Nations1, this repression is also reflected in the hundreds of ongoing trials, the dozens of judicial controls (CJ) on prohibition of entry into France for militants and the firm prison sentence that has already been pronounced against two other activists. While during this time the cops who have caused squirrels to fall from trees over 6 metres high and politicians who are scheming with their private sector buddies are not concerned.

The investigation is still ongoing. 2 of the other 3 people arrested are still considered suspects and the police are most certainly continuing their dirty work to try to link other militants to this case or the many other acts of sabotage of construction machinery carried out against the A69.

If for the moment this judge refuses to release our comrade, we send to Louna all our support and much much strength, just like to all other people imprisoned in France and around the world! Support all those who are fighting against this system that crushes, incarcerates and kills!

So a few weeks ago, on a starry night (when unfortunately we saw more satellites than shooting stars), we weakened the Cotentin-Maine EHV line that runs from the Flamanville nuclear reactors. We removed bolts from a pylon to the point of causing vibrations in the structure. To do this, we used a 46 mm L-type socket wrench (with a steel power bar to increase the force), a crescent wrench (without a power bar) and WD40.

There are pylons and EHV lines, the highways of electricity, everywhere. And not just for nuclear power plants: they’re also used to transport so-called “renewable” forms of energy (wind power, solar…), which help to produce ever more electricity and power the techno-industrial society. All this energy powers the machines that control us, surveil us, make us work, distract us and impose a way of life on us.

This disarmament is not the first. It takes place in a context where the opposition against the Mega-Basins, its model of water grabbing, and its promotion of agro-industry, has only intensified and deepened for more than three years. This historic struggle has taken a turn by multiplying and diversifying the forms of resistance against these projects. Since then, the movement has continued to expand and demonstrate possibilities to halt the ongoing disaster.

We have marched on these construction sites many times, like on March 25, 2023, when we were more than 30,000 in Sainte-Soline, on a day that will forever be etched in our memories and in our bodies. We have sown crops, uncovered Mega-Basins, made festive incursions, carried out a peasant blockade of the port of La Rochelle, built international alliances, etc. Through these actions, we have made the Mega-Basins sector visible, along with the profiteers who benefit from it. More broadly, we have opened a breach in the fight against agro-industry.

We indeed believe that if the agro-industrial system is a system with multiple tentacles, we can fight it in many places. The mega-basins, the last desperate move of a system in agony, are concrete actions to fight against the appropriation of a common good.
The fight against extractive agriculture is a breach that allows us to reclaim our material and political relationship with food, its conditions of production and consumption. This system destroys our territory, makes farmers disappear, speculates on the fruits of our labor, and actively participates in neo-colonial plundering.

In this process, the Charpentier Group, far from being the small family business it claims to be, is the major player on the construction sites. These are the machines that leveled land in Vendée, drained in Charente-Maritime, and dug in Deux-Sèvres. This ogre of Poitou built his empire on the artificialization of land and large useless projects. With its 130 million euros in revenue and its 19 companies, this nefarious group has greatly profited in exchange for its role in the projects that are destroying the Marais Poitevin and the Mellois region. It took advantage of this to equip itself with all the necessary arsenal to become an essential player in the transformations of the agro-industry over the coming decades.

By our action, we acknowledge that the phase we are entering is no longer about bringing visibility to the actors already known to everyone, repeatedly called upon, but rather about clearly impacting the continuation of the projects in order to simply make them cease. If we have experienced boundless repression in recent years, through the success of our action, we are reconnecting with what has made our movement strong: clever disarmament. It is possible to put an end to the basin projects through various means, legal recourse, popular mobilizations, material reappropriation, peasant struggles. It is this subtle multiplicity of practices that allows us today to drive the point home.

In case our point is not clear to some. TP Charpentier carried out the work on various basins. Any actor who associates with the future Mega-Basins projects, whether in St-Sauvant, La Clouère, in Deux-Sèvres, in Vienne, and everywhere else where projects are on the agenda, will face the consequences.

Many persons, M. among them, are thus targeted by a counter-terrorist investigation and prosecuted for 8 charges.
We send also strength and solidarity to her and to the prosecuted Dimitra and Dimitris and all other companions targeted by repression !

Let us no be fooled : the one spreading terror is the State. And the anarchists did not wait for the proposal of armed struggle to attack authority with flyers, posters and squats as well as with stones, knives, guns and bombs.

We could also mention NXP semiconductors, Telit Wireless Solution, Sotraban, Eff’Innov, France Travail, who among others, participate in the networks of war near or far (research-innovation, subcontracting, recruitment…).

The other companies of this campus participate in the invasive digitisation of all areas of daily life. They develop technologies that isolate us and produce the incapacity to act. Technologies that require raw materials from the extensive colonial looting organised to be produced. It is through war that the extraction of the necessary materials for technological production is made possible. Production which itself strengthens the military and repressive device and colonialist power.

We know that our action is but a grain of sand in the struggle against the military-industrial complex which is deepening technological capabilities day by day of the wars of the present time and the future. However, it allows us to get out of a position  of spectator in the face of the massacres of past present and future wars.

Wars are never very far away. They require industries, transport flows and energy that are everywhere. These productions and infrastructures are likely to multiply and intensify in the current context of militarization of societies. A massive restructuring of the capitalist economy organized by the bourgeoisie is underway, and it is leading us towards a permanent war race.

Other actions of this kind take place regularly. They show the wheels of war, attack them and  making our actions resonate with others seems essential to us. The action we carried out also responds to the “Train to nowhere” call for a week of actions – from August 11 to 17, 2024 – in solidarity against the North Bothnia Line, “a railway just beginning to be built along the coast of Swedish-occupied Sápmi. This project is a continuation of several hundred years of brutal colonization of the peoples and lands in Sápmi. Extractive industries are thriving on the increased demand for raw materials following the so-called “green transition”. This makes them continually stress the importance and urgency of the train line. So do the Swedish State and the European Union.”

It’s not just since the attacks on TGV lines at the opening of the Olympic Games that sabotage actions on the rail network, as a means of political struggle, have enjoyed a pleasing upswing in recent years. That’s why we’d like to make it clear that the method we use is absolutely unsuitable for stopping trains, and can lead to serious accidents! When used on an active line, it is imperative to ensure that train traffic is stopped beforehand by appropriate means.

The line we sabotaged is not currently in service. Our aim was both to make it more difficult to restore the line as planned, and to mark the sabotaged section of line as an integral part of Cigéo, and therefore a legitimate target of our resistance. We would like to take this opportunity to join the call for a campaign launched by “les trois brigantes” (March 2023), to target the SNCF as an active player in the nuclear industry, and to attack it en masse at the latest when the physical rehabilitation work begins.

Wherever ANDRA wants to turn this land into a landfill and a radioactivity convoy, let’s oppose it with festivities, sabotage, public gatherings, demonstrations, occupations and blockades. Let’s not let them pass.

The imperial war is being built here in Europe. Transport infrastructure is an essential base for its development.
As part of its European military mobility programme, the Transatlantic Security Initiative (TSI) produced a report in April 2020. The aim is to increase freight capacity and digital connections within and outside Europe. This relationship results in new agreements between railway companies and military companies.
This is what is currently happening in Italy between Leonardo (an arms company) and RFI (the Italian Railway Network).L

In France, the SNCF [Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français – French national railway company] boasted that it was the first industry invited to the parade on 14th July, in honour of its participation in the nation’s rearmament effort and logistical support. But it is not the only one: many others are taking advantage of the devastation in act, from the arms market to that of reconstruction. The call to identify with an imaginary community and to support the side to which one supposedly belongs is no less harmful than the permanent incitement to see one’s salvation in the health of one’s national economy and the strength of one’s national army.

Today, it takes ever greater doses of bad faith and denial not to see the full horror generated by consumer society and the pursuit of so-called “Western-style well-being”. France would like to make this great mass a showcase for its excellence. The only people who will be able to delude themselves about its virtuous role are those who have decided to put on blinkers, and who are content to put up with it. Our deepest contempt goes out to them.

France’s influence is based on its arms production, whose sales volume makes it the world’s second largest exporter.
